Kids grow at a amazing rates when they are young. Buy a nice pair of pink sweatpants when your little girl is four and before you know it, she hits a growth spurt and looks like she's ready for the great flood. And if your next one is little Tommy, that investment in those cute sweatpants will have lasted you a season unless you want to test his manliness early in life. Sure, maybe you will just luck out and birth 3 straight kids of the same sex, but the odds aren't on your side.
What can you do to stretch your clothing dollars? Buy clothing in colors and styles that work for both sexes. So forget your pinks and purples and skip the NASCAR, WWE, or Transformers branded stuff. Stick with basic colors that both girls and boys will be happy wearing and you'll save a ton. When it comes to socks, do yourself a favor and get white ones for your kids. Unless you want to have a garbage bag full of unmatched socks in short order, white is your choice. Kids lose everything, but socks can disappear at a rate of one a week.
