We love to buy online and the thing we like most about it is that you usually end up getting excellent value. Sure it is convenient to shop from the comfort of your own home,  but at the end of the day, the biggest factor for us is the savings. To start with, you get a leg up by not paying sales tax if the vendor has no physical presence in your state. While virtually every state legislature is up in arms about this online sales tax exemption, it doesn't look like it's going to change any time soon. Technically, you are supposed to pay your state directly, but we imagine that fewer than 1% of people ever get around to doing that.  The sales tax savings which can be as much as 9.75%, is often the deciding factor in making a purchase.

The tax free advantage is a good place to start but when you combine it with other online shopping strategies - you should be able to purchase the highest quality merchandise at rock bottom prices. When we pooled the combined knowledge of our staff at LiveCheap.com, we managed to develop a method to give consumers the best chance of landing an excellent deal when they shop online.

If there is one thing thing we've come to expect, it's the constant evolution in the way products and services are marketed online. Many Savvy consumers are quite familiar with discount travel websites like Hotwire and PriceLine. By now, eBay is a household name and even coupon sites like RetailMeNot have established brand name status. Many of these sites have been around for a number of years and their business models are true, tried, tested and widely imitated .

There is a new wave of up and comers with new creative business models that deserve your attention. If you want to save a bundle, you might want to check out this latest trend in online retailing.  These sites operate on a very simple concept - offer deals that are valid for twenty-four hours. You snooze - you lose. Because they only offer a few items, they tend to have  very basic easy-to-navigate websites. Here's 3 worth considering if you want to check out this newest trend and score some super cheap deals.

Avatar: The highest grossing movie in human history will be released tomorrow just in time for Earth Day. No self-respecting Sci-fi buff would be caught dead without an Avatar DVD in his collection. So where can you buy the DVD or BAvatarlu-ray for the lowest possible price? Walmart? Not even close! Amazon? Closer, especially after you factor in what you'll be saving the sales tax. But we found an even cheaper option and we want to share our discovery with our earthly brethren. We looked at a myriad of retailers to get you the lowest price possible on Avatar DVD and Blu-ray.

Just an aside - if you think you can just go online and rent it, be prepared to be sorely dissapointed if you use Netflix or Redbox. Just try explaining to your kids that they'll have to wait a minimum of 28 days before you get it in the mail.

When I ran my last information and software business, we had a golden rule when it came to technical development: Good, Fast, Cheap: pick any two. The reality was that if you wanted to develop good software quickly, you needed to shell out some serious money. If you wanted it cheap and good, it took some time. Over the years, we developed good internal processes and grew our talent which allowed us to develop great software both inexpensively and quickly because we had invested the time and resources upfront. But it didn't happen overnight and was expensive in the beginning. As we profess living the good life cheaply here at LiveCheap.com, time is an element that you need to get comfortable with.
